Ref. SCo1: Senior Consultant, salary £Neg, based: NW England (some travelling may be required)
Ideally educated to degree level and possessing appropriate professional qualifications and a sound understanding of claims and formulation of cases for arbitration/adjudication. Prospective candidates will be experienced commercial managers/quantity surveyors or engineers with experience in claims preparation and defence, valuation of works and variations and analysis of causes of delay and their effects. A legal qualification and/or successful completion of post-graduate legal studies would be an advantage.
Typical commissions include:
- Analysis of causes of delay and disruption:
- taking client’s records, diaries, statements etc and extracting the factual basis to support a comprehensive cause and effect analysis;
- modelling delays using PM Software;
- writing comprehensive claim narratives to support or, as the case may be rebut, the claim asserted
- Evaluation of financial claims for loss and/or expense and/or damages.
- Drafting Notices of Adjudication and Referrals.
- Marshalling evidence and compiling bundles.
- Interviewing witness and taking statements.
- Reviewing, assessing and commenting upon terms of contracts and their effect.
- Supporting Legal Consultant colleagues.
- Preparing and delivering seminars and training modules.
Senior consultants will be capable of contributing to business development and working in teams with lawyers, fellow professionals, experts and members of the clients' organisation at all levels.
