Kerrigans Construction Lawyers
 
We are a mixed practice of lawyers and consultants specialising in all areas of construction and engineering law and we represent a wide range of clients including national and international construction and service companies, property developers and local councils, dealing with complex and high value national and international disputes. Our clients’ disputes are as far afield as Spain, Russia, America, Trinidad and Japan.
 
We specialise in both contentious and non-contentious matters including, for example, assisting in the preparation of claims; representing clients in arbitration, adjudication and mediation; legal drafting and settlement negotiation.
 
Main Duties:
 
You will be required to provide legal support to other members of staff and undertake the following duties:
 
  • draft legal documents;
  • provide legal advice;
  • review client documents and opposing party’s submissions;
  • develop case strategy;
  • lead and/or attend client meetings;
  • conduct negotiations;
  • liaise with experts, Counsel and the Tribunal;
  • assist external solicitors in litigation;
  • take witness statement evidence;
  • prepare lectures and training material; and
  • conduct legal research.
 
Minimum Academic Requirements:
 
  • Qualifying law degree (2.1); and
  • LPC (commendation).
 
Training opportunities:
 
The successful candidate will be required to enroll on the part-time Masters course in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at Leeds Beckett University.
 
Further academic and training opportunities will also be available, including reading for the Bar Professional Training Course, qualifying as a Legal Executive with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and undertaking quantity surveying examinations.
 
Please note that we do not offer qualifying training contracts.
