Specialist Skills - Over 30 years experience within the construction industry covering a wide and varied range of projects including retail, education, housing, retirement villages, extra-care, commercial, leisure, heritage/listed buildings, ecclesiastical, healthcare, regeneration / re-development and industrial procured under a variety of processes including frameworks. Also has gained considerable experience in the use of the JCT, NEC3 and PPC2000 forms of contract and their related subcontracts. Alan trained and qualified as both a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Chartered Builder and has gained progressive experience with North West based contracting organisations as a senior quantity surveyor, commercial manager, chief quantity surveyor and surveying director. In his most recent roles Alan achieved the position of Managing Director with two North West construction companies.
Alan has gained direct experience of mediation, adjudication and arbitration proceedings having also acted as an expert witness during an arbitration hearing in respect of measurement related disputes.
Having joined Kerrigans as a consultant in 2013 Alan has recently achieved a Masters Degree in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at Leeds Metropolitan University.
