Specialist skills: Over 30 years of working in construction and infrastructure projects in the UK, the Middle East, Canada and the US. James trained and qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with a national contractor before going on to work in both construction led, and investment led organisations in large government infrastructure projects procured under the PFI model or an adapted similar form. James experience includes acting as the finance lead on numerous bids arranging debt and negotiating the contractual position on projects with a capital value into the billions on occasion.  James has completed a Masters in Law and a post graduate degree in Legal Practice.

2018 – 2020 – Liverpool John Moores. Academic studies.

2012 – 2017 SVP P3 Business Development. Leading business development and transaction management for the equity investment arm of the Kiewit group. Focusing on PPP/P3/AFP and other pseudo P3 and structured finance deals. The remit of the role is North America wide.

2005 – 2010 John Laing PLC. Senior Investment Director and latterly Country Head of Canada. Overseeing equity interest in PFI type infrastructure projects and clean energy projects in the UK, Canada and the US.

2001 – 2005 Carillion PLC – Commercial Manager to Special Projects and latterly Commercial Director (VP Commercial) of Carillion Canada. Working exclusively on large financed projects for the investment entity of the group. Successfully completed 2 large district acute hospitals in the UK and 2 large hospitals in Canada.

1993 – 2001 Mowlem PLC – initially as Senior QS but latterly as Commercial Director Of Mowlem Dubai. Acting as commercial lead on major projects under a variety of contract forms.

1990 – 1993 Tysons Construction Ltd – QS.

1989 – 1990 JR Knowles – Trainee QS. Assisting consultants in advising clients on a variety of construction related disputes. Seconded to 2 national house builders.
